PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide film little in insulation failure and suitable for preparing a printed circuit board. SOLUTION: The polyimide film such that, when C-intensity is measured by wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer in the case where an area range of a polyimide film roll having a width of 514 or 1,028 mm, and a length of 1,500 m is detected by passing it through an optical defect detector and a defect having a major axis of diameter 50μm or more is contained; the number of faults, of which the difference of the C-intensity from a C-intensity with respect to a portion of no defect is 70-250, is 5 pieces or less to the area range, is provided.
