PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of preparing latex excluding the use of IPA in order to reduce the manufacturing cost while maintaining the same properties of a toner.SOLUTION: A process includes the steps of: dissolving a polyester resin in a mixture of a single organic solvent, a base and water to form a resin mixture; neutralizing the resin mixture with a neutralizing agent to provide a neutralized resin mixture; adding water to the neutralized resin mixture until phase inversion occurs to form a toner resin emulsion; and removing the single solvent to form a polyester latex. The single organic solvent is preferably an aprotic solvent. Further, the aprotic solvent is more preferably selected from among a ketone, an ester, an ether and a nitrile.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
