PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimode glass fiber that can be used in the entirety of a comparatively large wavelength region at a specific communication speed and also to provide an optical communication system that is equipped with the multimode optical fiber having a comparatively large wavelength region at a specific communication speed.

SOLUTION: The multimode optical fiber having a refractive index profile comprises a light-guiding core surrounded by one or more cladding layers. The optical communication system consists of a transmitter, a receiver and the multimode glass fiber.
