PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved system, apparatus, and method for caring and evaluating a perfusion state, which are useful for effectively preserving a heart in ex vivo.SOLUTION: By utilizing the unique characteristic of cardiac muscle cell that the cell produces/generates lactate when in deficient of oxygen and metabolizes/utilizes the lactate for the purpose of producing energy when in sufficient perfusion with oxygen, and in order to evaluate 1) the whole perfusion state of the excised heart, 2) the metabolic state of the excised heart, and 3) the whole vascular patency of the excised donor heart, the system, apparatus, and method measure and compare the lactate value at an arterial blood line and a venous blood line of the heart perfusion apparatus of an organ care system, and indicates if in an appropriate perfusion and oxygen supply close to the physiological state for the cardiac muscle cell. |
