PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proximity sensor capable of making its detectable distance longer without increasing its size and a core for the proximity sensor. SOLUTION: A ferromagnetic metallic thin-film 80 is formed on the core 60. The ferromagnetic metallic thin-film 80 is formed by plating or deposition. More specifically, the ferromagnetic metallic thin-film 80 is formed on the outer surface of the mandrel 61, the inner surface of the outside wall 62, and the whole bottom surface between the mandrel 61 and the outside wall 62.
