PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector in which useless maintenance service can be suppressed sufficiently by predicting the total capacity of waste liquid in a waste ink tank precisely. SOLUTION: The liquid ejector comprising a head for ejecting liquid to a target, and a carriage 101 reciprocated in the main scanning direction while mounting the liquid ejection head is further provided with a means for discharging liquid from a liquid ejection means to other than the target, a tank 115 for storing waste ink discharged from the discharge means, and a section 10 for calculating the amount of waste liquid stored in the waste ink tank. The waste liquid capacity calculating section predicts evaporation precisely by setting individual evaporation conditions with regard to evaporation of waste liquid stored in the waste ink tank.
