PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for successively using a porous plug to a plurality of tundish castings without exchanging the porous plug in each tundish cast with which conventionally, the porous plug repaired and maintained through cooling process with water-cooling at each tundish cast is fitted to the tundish and used. SOLUTION: In a continuous casting operation for tundish which is water-cooled at each tundish cast from the starting of the filling of molten steel into the tundish 10 to the completion of the discharging of the molten steel and performs the repair and the maintenance of the tundish after water-cooling; under the fitting state of the porous plug 2 after using as wetting state with the water-cooling, the moisture in the porous plug 2 is vaporized and removed by supplying and flowing combustion waste gas 6 after burning the gas for heating supplied in the tundish 10 for drying or preheating the tundish 10 by supplying and making flow into the porous plug 2 from the inner part of the tundish 10 and thereafter, the porous plug 2 is successively used by supplying the next tundish cast.
