PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device virtually preventing the generation of conveyance loads by an edge guide during recording while securely regulating a side edge of paper during feeding. SOLUTION: A rear paper feeding device 2 is provided with a paper feed roller 11, a hopper 12 supporting paper P and the edge guide 16 for regulating the side edge of the paper P. In the paper feeding direction, in a state that the initial setting of the paper P with a specified length is performed in a recording start position and the paper P is pushed up by a return lever 19, the edge guide 16 is provided in a position including the rear end P<SB>E</SB>of the paper P. On a guide face 17, a recess 18 is formed in a position opposing the side edge of the rear end P<SB>E</SB>. During paper feeding, the side edge of the paper P is guided by the guide face 17. During recording, the presence of the recess 18 eliminates frictional resistance between the side edge of the paper P and the edge guide 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
