METHOD FOR PREVENTING POWER CONSUMPTION IN UMTS PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A method for reducing power consumption in a portable terminal is provided to reduce battery consumption by controlling back light brightness without adding the hardware including separate illuminating sensor and optical sensor. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal comprises a camera operation time setting part(104), a camera part(102), and a controller(100). The camera operation time setting part establishes the confirmation time of the preview information. The preview information shows the brightness of the surrounding environment. According to the set up time of the camera operation time setting part, the camera part checks the preview information. The controller controls the back light brightness through the preview information of the camera part.
