<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine and a method for operating the same capable of improving engine efficiency by expanding stoichiometric operation zone where air fuel ratio of air fuel mixture into a combustion chamber is kept theoretical air fuel ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 1 generating power by burning mixture of fuel and air in a combustion chamber is provided with a supercharger 20 supercharging air sucked in a combustion chamber 2 using exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chamber 2, a waste gate valve 25 for adjusting quantity of exhaust gas supplied to the supercharger 20 from the combustion chamber 2, and an ECU 50. The ECU 50 controls the waste gate valve 25 to reduce quantity of exhaust gas flowing in the supercharger 20 when it determines that temperature of a turbine inlet of the supercharger 20 exceeds a predetermined value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
