A pneumatic vane motor comprising a stator (10,24) with a cylinder (11), an inlet means (12) connectable to a pressure air source (33) and an outlet means (13) connectable to an exhaust passage (34), a rotor (15) journalled in the stator (10,24), and an output shaft (16). The stator (10, 24) has a front opening (17) forming a clearance seal (14) relative to the output shaft (16) and an annular front cover (24) with at least one elastic annular seal element (25) encircling the output shaft (16) at a distance from the clearance seal (14), wherein a low pressure chamber (26) is formed between the clearance seal and the seal element or elements (25) and communicates with the exhaust passage (34).
