摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an on-vehicle internal combustion engine capable of relieving a sense of incongruity of a driver resulting from a variation in travel performance, by restraining the variation in the travel performance of a vehicle resulting from a change in cooling capacity of an intercooler. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine is provided with a maximum lift changing mechanism for changing a maximum lift of an intake valve, a supercharger driven by exhaust gas flowing in an exhaust passage and force-feeding suction air to a combustion chamber, and the intercooler for cooling the suction air by a traveling wind before the suction air force-fed by the supercharger flows in the combustion chamber. An electronic control device of the internal combustion engine sets the maximum lift P of the intake valve in response to a stepping quantity Accp of an accelerator pedal of the vehicle (S10), and estimates cooling capacity of the intercooler, and corrects its set maximum lift P so as to increase more than high time when being low in the cooling capacity estimated for relieving a mass flow rate change in the suction air by a change in the cooling capacity of the intercooler.
