PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which has stable fixing performance even when the amount of slide oil is large. SOLUTION: A plurality of grooves 611d as recessed parts are formed on an outer peripheral surface of a main body part 611a of a fixing roll 611. The grooves 611d are provided at predetermined intervals along the axis of the fixing roll 611. Further, the grooves 611d are formed in the circumferential direction of the main body part 611a which is cylindrically formed over the entire circumference. The recessed parts may be in a shape other than the groove shape. For example, the recessed parts can be formed by partially roughening the external surface of the fixing roll 611 within a range wherein no image defect is generated. Alternatively, parts where the slide oil is evacuated can be formed by giving differences in roughness to the external surface of the fixing roll 611. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
