PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance electric power steering device capable of attaining a superior steering wheel returning operation and converging a yaw rate in whatever vehicle speed state may occur. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device comprises a motor for applying a steering assisting power to a steering mechanism, a torque command value calculating part for calculating a torque command value in response to a steering torque generated at a steering shaft and a vehicle speed, and a current command value calculating part for calculating a current command value for the motor in response to the torque command value, wherein the electric power steering device comprises a yaw rate detecting part for detecting or estimating the yaw rate of a vehicle, a preferable yaw rate calculating part for calculating a preferable yaw rate in response to a vehicle speed and a steering angle and a correcting part for correcting the current command value by calculating an amount of correction in response to the yaw rate and the preferable yaw rate.
