<p>The starting materials from >1 source are blended together to produce a mix with a pre-determined Zn content. The moist blend is pelleted at is not >300 degrees F. and heat hardened at 300-1900 degrees F. then reduced in a rotary kiln with coke breeze to volatilise off Zn etc. at 1400 degrees F-2500 degrees F. in counter flow combustion gas streams to form pellets contng. >60% Fe of which >80% is metallised. The pellets are water cooled, and the magnetic portion graded into coarse and fine fraction the latter being recycled with the dust. The coarse fraction contng. 0.2% Zn is charged to steel making furnaces.</p> |
