Natural fossil fuels (coal, lignite) and other materials of aromatic structure (e.g. lignin) are converted to aromatic fuels and raw materials for the chemical industry by thermal depolymerise. while in the plastic phase. Conversion is at 350-500 degrees C, depending on the raw material, and the pressure is sufficient to produce max. possible decompsn. and avoid coke formation. Natural materials available in large quantities are converted into useful products by a simple process without use of hydrogen.
