Diphenyl (thio)ether and diphenylmethane (thio)ether derivs - with insecticidal and acaricidal activity

(Thio)ethers of formula (I) are new: (where W is O or S; R1 is 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 3-5C alkynyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 5-6C cycloalkenyl or R6, R7-substd. benzyl; R2 is H, Me or Et; R3 is H or Me; R4 and R5 are H, Me or Cl; R6 is H, 1-3C alkyl, 1-2C alkoxy, 1-2C alkylthio, 3-4C alkenyloxy, 3-5C alkynyloxy or halogen, and R7 is H, Me or halogen, or R6 + R7 is 3,4-methylenedioxy; Y is O, CH2 or S). Cpds. (I) are insecticides and acaricides, e.g. active against Dyodercus fasciatus larvae, Aedes aegypti larvae, Tenebrio molitor pupae, Musca domestica, Ephestia kuhniella larvae, and Tetranychus urticae (eggs, larvae and adults).
