The assembly comprises a housing 12 communicating with the interior of a plenum 10 through opening 11 and provided with upper and lower sets of valve ports 20, each set being closed or opened by a respective hinged plate 15. When an explosion or abnormally high pressure occurs within the plenum or rooms connected therewith, the upper valve plate 15 opens. If a explosion occurs outside the plenum, e.g. in a furnace room containing the plenum, then the lower plate 15 opens. The valve plates are of a given weight to provide pressure relief at predetermined pressures. Moreover, the plates may have weights attached to their upper sides or be spring loaded. The plates are provided with rings 18 which co-operate with resilient seals 161 when the plates are closed. Stops 21 for the valve plates include strips 22 of resilient material, e.g. cork or heat resistant vinyl rubber.
