A device for biological activated purification of effluent, in which an activation chamber with aeration and a separation chamber for fluid filtration of the activated sludge are provided in a common container. In order to decrease energy consumption and to simplify the design, the activation chamber has an annular cross section and completely encloses the separation chamber.
