<p>A composite hose for conveying liqs. at low pressure comprises an impermeable core tube of synthetic rubber, such as neoprene (polychloroprene), surrounded by a woven or textile layer, opt. reinforced by helical wires and enclosed in a sheath of cellular synthetic rubber applied by drawing the overwrapped core tube down through a latex dip trough with a bottom outlet of calibrated dia. The integral cellular sheath eliminates use of clamps associated with loose covers, also separate internal interfaces where condensation can otherwise occur and cause rot or corrosion of the intermediate reinforcing layer: sheath and core tube are themselves intrinsically rot and corrosion resistant. Pref. the latex is applied from a trough at ambient temp. and pressure and the sheathing is hardened by passing through an annular oven after emerging from the trough outlet. The composite tube combines flexibility, thermal insulation and resistance to impact or vibration.</p> |
