The synthetic stone(a) resembles natural stone(b) in colour, appearance, and its texture after fracture. Stone(a) is made from a granulate contg. by vol. 18-24% limestone sand, 35-45% silica sand, and 33-40% lime and white cement used as binders. The granulate is mixed with water to make a mortar which is cast in a mould with the shape of a stone (b). The moulded stone(a) is removed from the mould and hardened; and is then sand-blasted with Fontainebleau sand possessing a grain size of ca. 0.05mm. The granulate pref. also contains by vol. 0.1-0.3% of a plasticiser, and 0.01-0.03% of polyacrylamide. The appearance of stone(a) is virtually identical to that of stone(b).
|
