<p>A liquid crystal display device which records information by emitting laser light onto a liquid crystal cell formed of glass substrates (20), (21), electrodes (22, (23), and a liquid crystal layer (24), producing a phase shift in the liquid crystal by the thermal energy of the laser light and then quenching it, thereby forming an optically scattered center at the part at which the laser light was shone. In this device, a dichromatic colorant is added to the layer (24) so that the laser is converted effectively into thermal energy.</p> |
