发明名称 Construction and manufacture of wound sound boxes for harps
摘要 The hitherto constructed harps are, owing to solid wood components, in particular of the sound box, and owing to the heavy metal mechanics of concert harps, too unwieldy for transport and, owing to their weight, they cannot be taken along by harpists in person. Moreover, the manufacture is too expensive. Those drawbacks can be considerably reduced by the above invention of the wound sound box. Such a wound sound box consists of thin, knot- and defect-free veneers which are wound crosswise in two or more plies over an extractable core and which are glued to one another and pressed in a pressure vessel according to the rubber-bag method. After cooling, the core is ejected, and the pieces joining the neck and pedals and also the string-hanging strip of solid wood are glued into or onto the hollow sound box. Finally, the sound box is stored suspended in an air-conditioned room until it is processed. This invention is characterised by six patent claims and a sketch drawing.
