PURPOSE:The titled circular-grating type hopper that is provided with a roller rotating in the same direction at almost the same peripheral speed as the coke moving speed at the gate for grating the coke on the side of the coke layer, thus reducing the local friction with the lining material. CONSTITUTION:In a circular grating type of dry extinguisher for coke where red-heated coke 2 is charged from hopper 1 and subjected to heat exchange, as it moves in the grade 3, by bringing the coke into contact with cooling gas 5 from the blowers 4 and the cooled coke 6 is recovered from the hopper 7, a roller or the same accompanied by a trailing roller 17 is set at the gate for grating the coke 14 on the side of the coke layer 16 under the hopper 10 so that the roller rotates in the same direction at almost the same speed as that of coke moving, whereby the friction at the lining 11 on the hopper 10 is greatly decreased.
