PURPOSE:A device capable of chopping carbon fibers with a few maintenance always in uniform dimension, wherein two shearing rolls obtained by setting elastic materials and collars alternately between a great number sheets of disc slitter knives are arranged in parallel, and blade parts of both the rolls are slid each other. CONSTITUTION:A great number sheets of the disc slitter knives 2 are attached to the support shaft 5. In the operation, the elastic materials 3 and the collars 4 are alternately attached to the knives 2, and they are bound from both the ends and fixed to form the shearing roll 1. Two these shearing rolls 1 are arranged in parallel, as the blade parts of the disc slitter knives 2 are slid each other by given pressure, both the rolls are relatively rotated. The tow of carbon fiber C is intermittently fed to the sliding part of both the rolls in parallel with both the rolls and cut. |
