PURPOSE:To send an output signal having a high SN ratio, by providing a driving circuit which drives a transferring section and an analog amplifier system to the output of the transferring section on a base plate. CONSTITUTION:A color image sensor has a structure in which a pair of convergent rod lens arrays 12 is provided on a base plate 22, on which CCD chips 21a-21h are arrangaed, and a pair of fluorescent lamps 13 is provided in the vicinity of the arrays 12. When an original 2 is transferred in the direction shown by the arrow 13, reflected lights from the original 2 irradiated by a light source 13 are projected upon the chips 21a-21h through the arrays 12 and an image corresponding to the character pattern on the original or the one line of the original is formed on the chips 21a-21h at the same magnification. In this case, the image is not contracted by the arrays 12. The image is transferred to an external circuit as the picture signal of one line after it is photoelectrically converted and amplified by the chips 21a-21h.
