PURPOSE:To remove Sb and Bi from an extract by sulfuric acid of a decoppered slime and to enable the recovery of a valuable material by heating the above- mentioned extract, holding it in the proper pH, blowing gaseous SO2 therein and thereafter cooling it and separating the produced precipitate. CONSTITUTION:The following decoppered slime is treated with sulfuric acid which is precipitated and produced when an electrolyte of the electrolytic purification of Cu is decoppered and electrolyzed. The obtained extract is made to >=60 deg.C preferably about >=70 deg.C and gaseous SO2 is blown in the extract while holding it in 1.5-2.5 pH preferably about 1.8-2.2. After the reaction and the aging of about >=4 hours are performed in this treatment, the produced precipitate is separated. The resulting aq. soln. has the concn. of about 0.3-<=0.1 g/l Sb and about 0.03-<=0.003 g/l Bi and the recovery of a valuable material such as As, Cu and Ni is enabled and the precipitate is treated and recovered in a copper refining system.
