PURPOSE:To permit the generation of O2 at the required time and to facilitate the discarding of waste residue by generating O2 by allowing basic and acidic peroxoacid salts to contact with water respectively and neutralizing the residue after generating O2 by mixing with each other. CONSTITUTION:Basic alkali peroxocarbonate (e.g. sodium peroxocarbonate) and peroxodisulfate (e.g. ammonium peroxodisulfate) are allowed to contact with each other in the presence of a catalyst (e.g. MnO2) to generate O2 and the residues of both salts are neutralized by mixing with each other. Since the peroxoacid salt and water are stored separately and mixed at the required time, the salt can be preserved stably for a long period. Moreover, since the residues are neutralized, they are discarded without problem.
