PURPOSE:To provide a liquid fuel combustion device in which a breakage of electro-magnetic coil and a fire spark or the like can be prevented and a superior safety and economical characteristic capable of realizing a reduction in electrical consumption can be attained by a method wherein a control circuit is arranged to turn off a switch when an electric current flowing in an electro-magnetic coil is made large under a pulling of the change-over lever and then in turn when the change-over lever is sucked and held to turn off the switch to make the electrical current low. CONSTITUTION:A wick lifting and descending device for a liquid fuel combustion apparatus changes over a wick lifting and descending position changing over lever 1 to one of both wick-lifting attitude A and wick-descending attitude B and is provided with an electro-magnetic coil for holding the wick lifting attitude and an electric circuit 2A for energizing the electro- magnetic coil 2. The electric circuit 2A is provided with a blower motor 3 for use in cooling the electro-magnetic coil 2 or the like acting as an electrical working means and a switch 3A for changing over an amount of electric current flowing in the electro-magnetic coil 2 or the like which are parallel to each other. A control circuit 3B is arranged to turn on a switch 3A for changing over an amount of electric current flowing in the electro-magnetic coil 3 so as to make the electric current large and in turn to turn off the switch 3A under a sucked and held stage of the change-over lever and to make the electric current low.
