PURPOSE:To provide the title membrane material which serves as a @.bio membrane and is stable in water, by blending a polymer having an SO3H group, a COOH group, a PO4 group or a group of salt derived therefrom with a specific org. compd. CONSTITUTION:A polymer (A) having an MW of 5,000 or more and contg. 0.1 mequiv/g or more of an ionic group selected from among SO3H, COOH, and PO4, groups and salts derived therefrom with an org. compd. (B) having a straight-chain hydrophobic group and an ionic group of the formula [wherein R<1>-R<2> are each independently a 6-30 C straight-chain alkyl (substituted with halogen); R<3>-R<4> are each independently a 1-4 C alkyl (substituted with halogen and/or OH)] in an amount of 0.2-5 equiv., preferably 0.5-3 equiv. based on 1 equiv. component A to obtain a composition which is a colorless, white or pale yellow powder, hardly soluble in water, soluble in an org. solvent (e.g.: benzene) at a temp. in the range of room temp. to 100 deg.C and in a liq. crystals form in a temp. range of -20-200 deg.C. The obtd. composition is dissolved in a solvent and cast on a substrate, followed by removal of the solvent, thereby obtaining the title membrane material.
