SHIFT LEVER DEVICE FOR TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To easily turn a shift lever in the lateral direction by securing such a mechanism where a detent pin is set at a position corresponding to the upper part of the longitudinal side of a detent groove with the shift lever kept at a prescribed shift position. CONSTITUTION:A lower cylinder shaft part 3 of a joint member 2 is rotatably supported under a detent plate 1 via a support shaft 4 and a control lever 5 is coupled to an automatic transmission. An operation rod 15 containing a detent pin 28 is set into a shift lever 10 via return springs 17-18 so that the rod 15 can move down when it is energized upward. While a detent groove 30 containing a lock stage part 31 which locks the pin 28 is formed to one of both sides of the plate 1. Furthermore, a longitudinal groove part 33 where the pin 28 is attached and detached with the lateral turn of the lever 10 is formed continuously to the lower edge of the groove 30. Thus, the lever 10 can be turned laterally at a prescribed shift position.
