PURPOSE:To simply and easily produce alloy powder having high nitrogen content by disintegrating molten alloy material containing element, able to form nitride with nitrogen gas under a specific high pressure. CONSTITUTION:The alloy material containing element able to form nitride is melted in a crucible 15 arranged in a main vessel 11 by using high frequency induction (no shown in figure). As the above element, at least one kind among V, Cr, Zr, Ti, Al, Ta, Nb and Mo is suitable to be contained in this alloy. The molten alloy metal is flowed down into an atomizing chamber 14 from a nozzle 16 for molten metal by suitably pressurizing the inner part in the melting chamber 13 for the above main vessel 11 by nitrogen gas, etc., supplied from a gas pipe 25. The high pressure nitrogen gas having >=50 kg/cm<2> is injected against this molten flow from the primary injecting nozzle 17, to disintegrate it, and further, by injecting the nitrogen gas from the secondary injecting nozzle 18, the molten drips are cooled and solidified. In this way, the alloy powder containing >= 0.05 wt.% nitrogen is formed and recovered by a recovery device 22 of cyclone, etc., arranged in a circulating pipe system 20.
