PURPOSE:To enable detection of a location of leakage, while checking leak of a liquid metal sodium efficiently, by causing a fuming in reaction with oxygen in air when the liquid metal sodium leaks to detect the fuming. CONSTITUTION:When carrying out detection, all of valves 15 for air supply are all opened while valves 3 for gas recovery are all closed, air with the pressure of about 2atm. from an air feeder 14 is sent to a cover section 17. At this point, as a glass wool 18 is on the bottom of the cover section 17 and when a leak occurs at a connection part and liquid sodium spills on the glass wool 18, it diffuses thereon and causes a fuming on reaction with oxygen in air. After a desired time elapses with the condition as intact, the valves 15 for air supply are closed while any one of the valves 3 for gas recovery is opened, air of the cover section 17 is introduced to a smoke detector 16 to check to see if it contains smoke and then, discharged as exhaust 8.
