PURPOSE:To confirm whether or not an object required selection by generating a focusing signal when there is no object having a fine difference in weighted value from a maximum value or when all objects are within the same depth. CONSTITUTION:Luminous flux from a light source 1 is split by a slit plate 2 into three pieces of luminous flux, which are projected on an object; and the pieces of luminous flux which are reflected there enter a photodetecting element 9 such as a position sensor to measure distances by areas on a photographic image plane, thereby deciding a main object according to values weighted according to the positions of the respective distance measurement areas or values weighted according to the position of a distance measurement area in the photographic image plane. The focusing signal is generated when there is no object having a fine difference in weighted value from the maximum value or when all the objects are within the same depth, so a photographer can decide whether an object required selection surely and speedily. |
