OBJECT DISTANCE MEASURING INSTRUMENT FOR CAMERA

PURPOSE:To accurately select a main object among objects in a photographic image plane by displaying the distance measurement area of an object which is not within the same depth only when there is even one of objects in distance measurement areas which are weighted and extracted. CONSTITUTION:Light beams from a light source part 1 are split by a slit 2 into plural pieces of luminous flux, which are projected on an object; and its reflected light beams are made incident on photodetecting elements 70(70-1-70-n) and stored in the form of an object distance in a memory circuit 57. Values of weighting information which are stored previously in a weight information RAM 62 corresponding to respective distance measurement area are read out by a reading circuit 63 and stored in registers 64 respectively. A CPU 53 processes weighted values for determining the order of respective distance measurement areas, and displays a measurement area which contains an object on the display device 69 in the finder if there is even one of objects in the extracted distance area which is not within the same depth.
