APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THE TIME-INTEGRATED VOLUME SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES AND THE POTENTIAL ALPHA ENERGY OF RADON AND THORON DAUGHTERS IN THE AIR ( A b s t r a c t ) This invention can find application in the dosimetric control of uranium and polymetal mines, the radiation monitoring of environment and in scientific research. It is featured by widened functional possibilities for dosimetric monitoring because of the possibility to determine the time-integrated volume specific activities of any of the radon and thoron daughters simultaneously by a high productivity and accuracy. The apparatus can operate autonomously without the participation of an operator during the measurement. The apparatus comprises an air pump (1), the inlet of which is connected to the on end of a pipe (2), the second end of which is connected hermetically to the central portion of a perpendicularly disposed pipe (4) with plugged ends provided with two longitudinal rectangular orifices (5), which are in contact with two endless aerosole filter bands (6, 7) which is rotated by a clock mechanism (10) at periods 1 hour and 12 hours, respectively. The radiation detectors (15) are disposed in the seats (14) in the cylindrical support (13) while the latter is disposed within a protective housing (16). 3 Claims, 2 Figures.
