n electrostriction ceramics is composed of the powder mixture including lead oxide, niobium oxide, titanium oxide (titania), barium carbonate, zinc oxide, and 0.4 wt.% yttrium oxide (yttria) as an additive. The electrostrictive strain ceramics for a microdisplacement device has the general formula of 0.85Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3- 0.10BaTiO3-0.05PbTiO3. The additive increases the density of the electrostriction ceramic body and the permittivity by generating the space charge polarization between grain boundary layers.
