The device is useful for general heat treating and surface hardening treating ferrous metals including steel and casting iron. The device comprises upper and lower circulating fans positioned on the opened upper and lower sides of a furnace body respectively; a pair of additive gas heating supply pipes for supplying propane and ammonia gases, mounted on the heat pipe; lower gas supply pipes, for supplying ammonia gas or propane gas for carburizing from the outer side of the furnace body; CO2 and C3H8 gas supply pipe and N2 gas supply pipe positioned at equal distances between the lower gas supply pipes; and several additive gas supply pipes located near by the upper circulating fan.
