PURPOSE:To provide a new compound giving a refrigerator working fluid composition having excellent compatibility with hydrofluorocarbons, electrical insulation, hydrolysis resistance and thermal stability and useful as a base oil for a refrigerator oil. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R1 to R3 are (substituted) 1-20C alkyl; R44 to R56 are 2-4C alkylene; p, m and 4 are 0-6], e.g. the compound of formula II. The compound can be produced e.g. by reacting glycerol with an excess amount of an alcohol carbonic acid ester having a low boiling point in the presence of a basic substance such as NaOH and subjecting the reaction product to a transcarbonation reaction with an alcohol compound of formula III to formula V in the presence of a basic substance. These reactions are preferably carried out at room temperature to the refluxing temperature for 0.5-30hr. |
