PURPOSE:To produce a calcium soap capable of efficiently reacting calcium hydroxide with a fatty acid in a short time and imparting high thixotropy by addition thereof to an adhesive, a plastics, a coating, a sealant, etc. CONSTITUTION:A slurry of milk of lime having 12-40m<2>/g BET specific surface area and 20-100ml/60min sedimentation volume at 2 deg.. Baume is used as a raw material for calcium hydroxide. Thereby, the calcium hydroxide directly reacts with a higher fatty acid.
