The combustion chamber vol. variable device of a motor vehicle comprises a plate equipped with screw nuts at both sides, which is slidably mounted on a guide hole of a cylinder block around the top stroke position of a piston; two lead screws each of which is meshed with the screw nut, rotatably hinged at its both ends and has a worm gear fixed around the mid-portion thereof; and two stepping motors each of which has a pinion meshed with the worm gear and is electrically connected to an ECU for sensing the r. p. m and the load of the engine, and selectively outputting an output signal to operate the stepping motor.
