POLARIZED LIGHT SEPARATING ELEMENT, AND SOLID IMAGE PIKCUP DEVICE AND LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT ARRAY PRINTER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized light separating element which can easily obtain the image of high resolution without causing blur due to defocusing, and the solid image pickup device and light emitting element array printer which use the polarized light separating element. SOLUTION: The polarized light separating element 19 is constituted by arranging a 1st birefringent element 11 and a 2nd birefringent 13 which is equal in separation width to the 1st birefringent element 11 so that the separating direction of the 2nd birefringent element 13 is opposite firom that of the 1st birefringent element 11, and installing a polarized light rotating element 12 which rotates the polarizing direction of output polarized light from the 1st birefringent element 1 by 90 deg. between the two birefringent elements 11 and 13.
