PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of kinds of necessary cams by a method wherein the rotation phase of the cam of the cam shaft of an engine is simply controllable. SOLUTION: A cam gear 9 to which a rotation force is transmitted from the crank shaft of an engine is fitted in a cam shaft 2 through a first helical spline 5 and an intake cam body 12 and an exhaust cam body 12' are fitted in the cam shaft 2 through a second helical spline 6 in the same direction as that of the first helical spline 5. A unit injector cam body 19 is fitted in the cam shaft 2 through a third helical spline 7 in a reverse direction to the first helical spline 5. When a cylinder effects pitch displacement, the rotation angleθof each cam body is a multiple or a divisor of 360 deg./the number of cylinders, and a spline pitch angle in the peripheral direction of each helical spline of a spline is a divisor of the rotation angleθ.
|
