<p>A status tester for an electrochemical cell (1), comprising an (1) elecrically resistive element (18), switchably contactible with the (18) terminals of the cell, and visual heat responsive means (24) thermally connected with the resistive means such that, on passage of electric current through the resistive element, heat generated thereby excites the heat responsive means, has at least two switches (65a, 65b) for one (65a, 65b) terminal, each switch being associated with an overall different electrical resistivity of the resistive element, thereby to allow testing for suitability for high and low drainage devices. Incorporation of a variable resistivity element, where resistance changes with ambient temperature, allows the tester to provide consistent results over a range of ambient temperatures.</p> |
