PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-domain type IPS-LCD wherein a smooth curve can be attained in a dark area of a V-T characteristics figure. SOLUTION: In the IPS-LCD, each pixel area is provided with at least two common electrodes 38a and 38b extending in an axis Y direction orthogonal to an axis X and at least one pixel electrode 36a extending in the axis Y direction. The common electrodes and the pixel electrode are constituted of a first belt-like segment I, a second belt-like segment II, a third belt-like segment III and a fourth belt-like segment IV. These segments are so disposed that the first segment I is not parallel to the second segment II, the first segment I is not parallel to the third segment III, the second segment II is not parallel to the fourth segment IV and the third segment III is not parallel to the fourth segment IV. |
