PURPOSE: A camera system and an operating method thereof are provided to analyze valid frames, lines and corresponding position information for image data of an object from the camera through a line indexer, thereby obtaining correct image data and preventing loss of the image data due to noise in advance. CONSTITUTION: A line camera(10) acquires an image of an object and outputs image data for the image. A line indexer(50) analyzes time and position information of the image data outputted from the line camera(10) to generate an analysis signal. A grabber(20) converts the image data into a digital value according to the analysis signal outputted from the line indexer(50). A mixer(30) mixes the analysis signal of the line indexer(50) with the image data outputted from the camera(10). The line indexer(50) comprises a reference timer(53) for generating and outputting a reference clock, a frame counter(51) for counting valid frame sections of the image data outputted from the camera(10), a line counter(52) for counting valid line sections of the image data outputted from the camera(10), a position counter(54) for counting the position information of the image data outputted from the camera(10), and an encoder counter(55) for encoding the position information to be processed in the position counter(54).
