Provided is a gamut mapping method based on a source image gamut. The method comprises: (a) inputting a source image, and determining a gray-scale value of each of colored sub-pixels corresponding to each of pixels in the source image; (b) according to the determined gray-scale values of the colored sub-pixels, determining a plurality of preset target pixels in the source image; (c) calculating a plurality of coordinate values in a uniform color space and respectively corresponding to the plurality of preset target pixels; (d) according to the plurality of coordinate values, determining a gamut of the source image; (e) extracting a gamut boundary from a target device to obtain a gamut of the target device; and (f) performing a gamut mapping between the source image and the target device. The gamut mapping method uses mapping from a source image gamut to a target gamut, so that losses of image colors are reduced during transmission or reproduction, leading to a better gamut mapping effect and a effectively reduced calculation load for determining a gamut of a source image. |
