The production method for electrical cables or conductors with insulation of reticulatable material is by application of this material on a conductor or helix in a warm state and reticulation in a heat treatment zone followed by a cooling zone. The period of dwell of the cable or conductor in the heat treatment and in the follow-on cooling zone is pre-defined by the starting conditions depending on the process equipment, the material used and the geometry of the cable or conductor, and is used as the basis for fixing the appropriate production speed. A formula is given in cylindrical co-ordinates for the period of dwell in the heat treatment zone and for the required length of the cooling zone.
