<p>Basic dyes of formula (I): (in which Ar is a benzene or naphthalene ring, opt. contg. non-ionogenic substits; A is alkylene with the chain opt. interrupted by hetero atoms or a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring or substd. with hydroxy, alkoxy, or carbo- or heterocyclic gps.; R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl, R3 is as R1, alkoxy or amino: R1, R2 and/or R3 may combine to form a heterocyclic ring; X is an anion, n is 0 or 1 and the substd. amino gp. is in 4 or 5 posn.) are useful for dyeing or printing of mordanted cellulose, silk, leather, acetate or acid-modified synthetic fibres in orange to scarlet shades. Also with anionic pptants. e.g. alumina as light-fast pigments in paper printing. Compared with known dyes quaternised in the imidazole ring they are easier to mfr. and give increased brilliance and strength without loss of fastness.</p> |
