1440788 Rollers CARL FREUDENBERG 27 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972] 43359/73 Heading F2U A roller 2 is made by helically winding strips 3 of non-woven fleece fabric (which has first been impregnated with rubber or plastics and then coated with plastics or pressed with layers of unvulcanized rubber, on both sides) in layers on to a core or mandrel 1 such that the turns of the helices cross each other in adjacent layers, vulcanizing or cross-linking the rubber or plastics after winding and then turning or grinding the roller to a smooth finish. The fabric for the strips may be made of longitudinally-orientated nylon fibres first impregnated with Bunatex VP, a mixture of butadiene/ styrene/vinylpyridine latex, and a resorcinol resin and then dipped into a latex solution or given a latex coating by a multi-roll calender. The prepared fabric may then be cut into strips and wound on to a steel core 1 ready for the vulcanization and machining operations.
|
